Preparation
Syringe 3 ml
Needle 25 to 27 gauge (1.25 to 1.5 inch)
Methylprednisolone
20 mg (0.5 ml of 40 mg/ml solution)
Lidocaine
1% 0.5 ml
Technique
Patient sits with
Forearm
pronated and resting against a table top or pillow
Prepare skin with antiseptic (e.g.
Chlorhexidine

Povidone-Iodine
)
High Frequency
Ultrasound
Linear probe
Placed overlying the dorsal wrist, in transverse axis (horizontal, in line with wrist joint)
Insert needle in-plane with
Ultrasound
into the ulnar wrist directed toward radial wrist
Injection is deep to extensor carpi ulnaris tendon
