  1. Pelvis is similar to a three ringed pretzel
    1. Large central pelvic inlet
    2. Two small, inferior obturator canals (between the rami)
  2. Pelvis has 3 joints
    1. Two, posterior sacroiliac joints to either side of the Sacrum
    2. One anterior, central Pubic Symphysis

  1. Pelvic Bone (composed of 3 bony parts)
    1. Ilium
      1. Large, superior aspect of the Pelvic Bone down to, but not including the rami
      2. Articulates with the Sacrum and the sacroiliac joint
      3. Includes the superior aspect of the acetabulum
    2. Pubis
      1. Superior ramus and medial to Pubic Symphysis
      2. Includes the anterior aspect of the acetabulum
    3. Ischium
      1. Posterior and inferior ramus
      2. Includes the posterior aspect of the acetabulum
  2. Sacrum
    1. Five fused Vertebrae ending in the Coccyx
    2. Contiguous with the Lumbar Spine to its superior
    3. Forms the posterior aspect of the pelvic ring
      1. Joined to a Pelvic Bone on either side via the Pubic Symphysis
