  1. Show patient a clock face set to 11:10 and ask the time
    1. Time the response and allow for up to one minute
    2. Allow patient 2 tries for a correct response
  2. Change making
    1. Set patient up with supply of loose change
      1. Quarters: 3
      2. Dimes: 7
      3. Nickels: 7
    2. Ask patient to put together one dollar in change
    3. Time the response and allow up to two minutes
      1. Better sensitivity if limit response to 12 seconds
    4. Allow patient 2 tries for a correct response
  • Interpretation
  1. Negative: Correct response on both tests
  2. Positive: Incorrect response on either test
    1. Requires complete Dementia Screening
