Distal humeral
Ossification Center
(at capitellum) with abnormal ossification, necrosis and degeneration
Differentiate from
Osteochondritis Dissecans
of the Capitulum which affects the articular cartilage
Symptoms
Vague lateral
Elbow Pain
, stiffness and decreased range of motion
Signs
No point tenderness over lateral elbow
Differential Diagnosis
Osteochondritis Dissecans
of the Capitulum
Affects articular cartilage, NOT the epiphysis
Imaging
XRay elbow
Epiphysis and capitellum of
Humerus
with fragmentation and fissuring
MRI
Elbow
Indicated in non-diagnostic XRay imaging
Management
Relative rest
Immobilize for 4 weeks
Acetaminophen
or
NSAID
s
Repeat XRays every 4-6 months
Consider pediatric orthopedic
Consultation
Course
Self-limited with spontaneous resolution
