  • Indications for transplant referral in Cystic Fibrosis
  1. FEV1 30% or less
  2. Mitigating factors
    1. Severe Malnutrition
    2. Cor Pulmonale
    3. Marked Exercise intolerance
    4. Frequent respiratory exacerbations
    5. Increasingly resistant Pseudomonas
    6. Young age
  • Contraindications to Transplantation
  1. Severe Scoliosis
  2. Renal Insufficiency
  3. Biliary Cirrhosis
  4. Poorly controlled Diabetes Mellitus
  5. History of noncompliance
  • Prognosis
  1. Survival with transplant
    1. One year survival: 65%
    2. Two year survival: 58%
  2. Survival without transplant (FEV1 < 30%)
    1. Two Year survival: 50%
