  2. H1 Receptor Antagonist (First Generation Antihistamine)
  3. Meclizine is a synthetic piperazine derivative with Antihistamine (moderate Anticholinergic) and Antiemetic activity
  • Precautions
  1. Although FDA approved for children, FDA does not recommend routine Antihistamine use age <4 years
    1. Deaths have occurred in younger children related to Anticholinergic Toxicity
  • Dosing
  1. Approved for age >=12 years
  2. Vertigo (not FDA approved)
    1. Dose 25 mg orally four times daily as needed
  3. Motion Sickness
    1. Start: 25 to 50 mg orally 1 hour prior to travel
    2. Next: 25 to 50 mg orally daily during travel
