Infantile Acropustulosis

  • Epidemiology
  1. Uncommon condition with onset in first year of life
  2. Affects infants and young children
  • Findings
  1. Very pruritic Vesicles and Pustules on acral surfaces
  2. Distrubuted on palms, soles and the sides of the feet
  • Differential Diagnosis
  1. Neonatal pustulosis
  2. Scabies
    1. Infantile Scabies often presents with similar lesions on the palms and soles
  • Management
  1. Exclude Scabies!
  2. Symptomatic treatment
  3. No specific treatments have been found effective and resolves spontaneously over time
  • Course
  1. Recurrent episodes of skin outbreaks that become less severe over times
  2. Resolves without treatment in first 2 to 3 years of life
