Trandolapril is a prodrug, converted to its active form Trandolaprilat in the liver via de-esterification
Dosing
Adults
Adequate 24 hour
Blood Pressure
control may require twice daily dosing
Hypertension
Start 1 mg orally daily or divided twice daily
Start 0.5 mg/day in renal dysfunction or comorbid
Diuretic
use
Target 2 to 4 mg orally daily
Congestive Heart Failure
(CHF) or post-
Myocardial Infarction
Start 0.5 to 1 mg orally daily
Titrate to target 4 mg orally daily
Maximum: 8 mg/day (but no benefit above 4 mg/day)
Supplied
Available as generic scored tablet (1 mg) and unscored tablet (2 and 4 mg)
Metabolism
Excretion 66% hepatic and 33% renal
