Mechanism
Non-ergot Dopamine Agonist
available as a transdermal patch
Technique
Patch
Application
Apply once daily (available in 1, 2, 3, 4, 6 and 8 mg)
Patch
applied daily to a new dry, clean and intact skin site
Hold patch in place for 20-30 seconds before removing hand
Appropriate sites include
Abdomen
, thigh, flank,
Shoulder
, upper arm
Wash skin after removal
Do not repeat the same site for 14 days
Remove patch prior to MRI, cardioversion
Dosing
Parkinsonism
Start at 2 mg/24 hours
May start a 4 mg/24h patch in advanced
Parkinsonism
May increase weekly by 2 mg/24h patch to a maximum of 6 mg/24h (8 mg/24h in advanced
Parkinsonism

Taper patch by 2 mg/24h every 2 days when stopping
