• Indications
  1. Fascioliasis
    1. Liver Fluke or Flatworm Infection
  • Medications
  1. Triclabendazole 250 mg tablets
    1. May be taken whole or divided
    2. May be crushed and mixed with apple sauce (take within 4 hours)
  • Mechanism
  1. Antihelminth in the benzimidazole family of drugs
  2. Binds beta-tubulin and prevents microtubule polymerization
    1. Inhibits Helminth reproduction and survival
  • Dosing
  • Adult (and child age >=6 years)
  1. Triclabendazole 10 mg/kg orally with food every 12 hours for 2 doses
  • Adverse Effects
  1. QTc Prolongation
  2. Abdominal Pain or Biliary Colic
  3. Headaches
