  1. Replaced by other Platelet ADP Receptor Antagonist (e.g. Clopidogrel) due to Ticlopidine toxicity

  • Mechanism
  1. Blocks Platelet ADP
  2. Inhibits Platelet aggregation
  • Adverse Effects
  1. Thrombotic Thrombocytopenic Purpura (TTP)
  2. Neutropenia
  • Monitoring
  1. Complete Blood Count every 2 weeks for the first 3 months of use
  • Dosing
  1. Avoid Ticlopidine if possible
  2. Replaceed with other Platelet ADP Receptor Antagonist such as Clopidogrel (Plavix) due to adverse effects
  3. Take 250 mg orally twice daily with food
