  • Causes
  1. Acute exposure to sudden loud noise >130 dB noise
    1. See Sudden Sensorineural Hearing Loss
    2. Acute acoustic Trauma induced Hearing Loss may resolve over subsequent 48 hours
  2. Chronic, recurrent, or single severe loud noise exposure (>85 dB noises)
    1. Textile mills
    2. Firearms
    3. Rock concert
    4. Explosion
  • Symptoms
  1. Hearing Loss (typically High Frequency)
  2. Tinnitus
  1. Early: Pure tone (notch) loss between 3000-6000 hz
  2. Later: progresses to other frequencies
  • Management
